    Ben Nevis, Mountain Path

Today i was on Ben Nevis via the mountain path. With a less than favourable forecast we steadily made our way up to the top of the zig zags. At around 1100m there was a light dusting of snow from the night but it was already raining on it and the rime ice was visibly thawing. It was still raining on the summit and i suspect that the fresh snow will mostly be gone by the end of the day. #bennevis #mountainpath

    Ben Nevis, Mountain path

Ben Nevis via the Mountain Path left the best till last today. With -5 degrees at the start, very different to 2 days ago of +10 degrees, there was a cloud inversion over Loch Eil. Getting higher a heavy frost and yesterdays snow made going slippery but manageable. At 1300m we popped abouve the cloud to fantastic views across Lochaber, including a Brocken spectre. Great way to start the new year. #bennevis #mountainpath

    Ben Nevis, Mountain path

Today Andrew was on the Mountain Track on Ben Nevis. Despite the forecast having strong winds the day turned out better than expected. The recent low fronts that have blown through has stripped a lot of the snow. Andrew reported that crampons were not needed but there is verglas and neve from 1000m upwards which needed a lot of care, but avoidable. Good views and smiles all round. . #bennevis #mountainpath

    Ben Nevis, Mountain Path

Today i was on Ben Nevis via the Mountain Path with father and daughter team, Evan and Emily. Their legs held out well today after completing the Glen Coe half marathon yesterday and got to the top in a good time of 3.5 hours. From 1200m there is a good covering of snow and the temperatures were cold with the path becoming icy where people had compacted the snow. We managed to descend before the worst of the weather came in and the snow will be sticking around for the ne

    Ben Nevis, group walk

Today was our summer Monday open group Ben Nevis walk. With a less than favourable forecast i was ready for a wet and windy struggle to the top. However it was much better than forecast with a few showers and moderate winds. The Englishman, 2 Canadians and Kiwi that made up our group made a really good attempt getting to the summit in just under 4 hours with views most of the way up. #bennevis #Mountainpath #Munro

    Ben Nevis, Mountain Path

Today i was on Ben Nevis going up the Mountain Path to the summit on our open group walk. With a very cloudy start it turned out to be a bit of a dreich day. With very close cloud and mist that turned into drizzle and rain and back to mist again, we made the summit in a solid 4 hours. #bennevis #Mountainpath #Walking #Glennevis

    Ben Nevis

Ben Nevis via the mountain path was a good challenge for the group after their winter skills day yesterday, putting what they learnt into practice. The path has a lot of snow on it from the bottom of the zig zags and navigation is very tricky at the top.  There is a lot of ice from low down and the 6ft navigation cairns across the plateaux are almost buried.  Its full on winter! The summit and blue sky! #bennevis #Mountainpath #Winter #Fortwilliam #Walking #Winterskills

    Ben Nevis, mountain path

Hard day at the office today on the mountain path up Ben Nevis. With rain lower down that quickly turned to snow by the half way point.  This then froze completely by the summit and i don’t think ive had so much rime ice build up: buckles, zips and my whole waterproof jacket froze on the outside. Very tricky conditions under foot as well with lots of fresh snow over the last 48 hours on top of the windslab made for hard going from 650 meters to the summit.  With white out con
