    Castle Ridge, Ben Nevis

Today i was on Castle Ridge on Ben Nevis with Ron for his second day out. And what a glorious day. Cold and sunny all day with a few snow flurries, the autumn colours have definitely started. We made good time getting to the base of Castle Ridge and started our way up. The rock was greasy all the way which needed careful footwork. Once over the difficulties we then decided to make our way to the top of Carn Dearg and then descend Ledge Route back to the CIC hut for a

    Ledge Route, Ben Nevis

Today i was on Ledge route, Ben Nevis with my older brother and sister. Its not often that you get 3 Buckett's together and today we filled up with rain. The weather was very wet and windy and the alpine start didn’t really help beat the worst of it. The windest part of the day was walking up to the CIC hut and then on the summit plateaux with Ledge Route being wind free. Chris and Gillian did well on their 1st mountain scramble and achieved their goal of getting to th

    Skye Munros

Today was a better weather day so myself and Pitor headed for the northern peaks of Sgurr nan Gillean and Am Basteir. We had a dry ascent of Am Basteir via the bad step before going up the west ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean, we then descended the south ridge making for a good traverse of the peak. #skye #Munro #Cuillin

    Ben Nevis, group walk

Today was our summer Monday open group Ben Nevis walk. With a less than favourable forecast i was ready for a wet and windy struggle to the top. However it was much better than forecast with a few showers and moderate winds. The Englishman, 2 Canadians and Kiwi that made up our group made a really good attempt getting to the summit in just under 4 hours with views most of the way up. #bennevis #Mountainpath #Munro

    Torridon munros

Over the last 3 days i have been in Torridon climbing the classic ridges and munros with Fred and Yvonne. We climbed Beinn Alligin 1st on Thursday in strong wind and heavy showers with glimpses of the west coast views from the top. A challinging day. On Friday we did the classic Beinn Eighe munros on a better weather day and we were rewarded with great views of Liathach and the Beinn Eighe massif. Today we had a shorter day and i got a new munro of Morusig and Sgurr nan

After the Skye Munros course Oli wanted to get the 12th Skye munro completed and look at some mountaineering skills With strong winds we opted to take the main path up via the rockiest line. On the way up we looked at taking mountaineering coils, selecting an appropriate anchor to safegard a 2nd and body belaying. With the strong wind blowing we made it to the summit and on the descent we looked at abseiling with a prusik and how to safegard a second when down climbing

    Beinn Alligin, Torridon

Andrew was out with Barbara again today on day 2 of the Torridon munros, Beinn Alligin. Good views lower down but the cloud came in on the tops but Barbara was still keen all the way and got a few plank poses in as well. #munro #Torridon #Beinnalligin

Aonach Eagach, Glen Coe, part Deux

I was on the Aonach Eagach in Glen Coe again today with Steve, Martin and Andy for their joint 40th birthday present. The ridge was slippery today in the mist which stayed with us all day. The guys did well along the tricky sections and were glad on some that there were no views! #aonacheagach #Glencoe #Munro

Ledge Route and CMD arete, Ben Nevis

Today i was back on Ben Nevis, 4th day out of 5, gaining the summit of Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg via Ledge Route and the CMD arete. A few heavy showers early on in the day made the rock wet and lowered the clould level, so we didn’t get much of a view of the north face whilst along Ledge Route. The ladies made good progress along and we popped out of the cloud whilst we started our way along the CMD arete, getting views of the Mammores and Steall Falls. #bennevis #Cm

    Ben Nevis, Mountain Path

Today i was on Ben Nevis via the Mountain Path. Katie had her sights on the summit whilst on her holiday from Australia and she made very good progress to the top, getting there in 2.15hrs! With thick cloud and a light wind it was hat and gloves weather at the top. After looking round the ruined observatory we made equally swift progress down into the sun. With a total time of 4.15hrs. #bennevis #Munro #Walking

Ledge Route and CMD arete, Ben Nevis

With a brighter forecast today i was up Ledge Route on Ben Nevis and then descended via the CMD arete, ticking off the second munro of the day, Carn Mor Dearg. The ladys did well on Ledge Route and it was a good challenge for them being sheltered from the southerly winds. We then briefly joined the masses at the summit of Ben Nevis before descending the boulder feild to start our second ridge of the day. #bennevis #Cmdarete #Munro #Ledgeroute

    CMD arete, Ben Nevis

A very atmospheric day on the CMD arete, Ben Nevis today with Evelina and Andreas. We made swift progress in the thick cloud to the summit of Carn Mor Dearg where the weather lifted to give glimpses of the north face of Ben Nevis. The CMD arete was a good level of challenge for Evelina who soon found her feet skipping over the boulders. #cmdarete #Munro #Bennevis #Walking

    Lost Valley, Glen Coe

A walk into the Lost Valley in Glen Coe was the perfect choice for Rose and Carrie, showing them the best of the western munros of the Scottish Highlands. The river out of the valley was pretty small but it still added to the atmosphere of the temperate rainforest in the gorge. We finished the walk in the best way with a pint in the Clachaig. #glencoe #Lostvalley #Walk #Munro

    CMD arete Ben Nevis

The CMD arête on Ben Nevis was Pauls’ goal today and it was perfect weather for it. We made good progress up to the summit and Paul skipped along the classic ridge. With time in hand we decided to descend down Ledge Route rather than the main path, making for a classsic horseshoe. The summer alpine flowers are doing well after the long harsh winter with the rare Sibbaldia all along the Ledge Route path. Moss Campion The rare Sibbaldia #bennevis #Cmdarete #Ledgeroute #Mun

    Inaccessible Pinnacle, Skye

Today i was on the Inaccessible Pinnacle, Sgurr MhicChoinnich and Sgurr na Banachdaich on Skye. Another very hot day and a hot walk into Corrie Laggan. The streams are really starting to dry up now above the main rivers. The team did well in the heat and enjoyed the In Pinn with time on the summit for views all around before the abseil. #skye #Cuillin #Mountaineering #Munro

    Northern 3 munros on Skye

Today i was on the northern 3 munros on the Isle of Skye with the Welsh walking club on day 1 of their Skye munros course.  It was another hot day so shorts, water, suncream and a steady pace was the order of the day. We ticked off Bruach na Frithe 1st and then Am Basteir and Sgurr nan Gillean. Lots of teams at the end of their Skye ridge traverse made for a sociable mountain. #skye #Mountaineering #Munro

    Tower Ridge, Ben Nevis

My tour of Scotlands’ classic ridges continues today with Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis. An early start meant we were ahead of the game, crowds and heat seeing us at the bottom of the route at 9am and on the summit of Ben Nevis by 11am. The mountain had a very alpine feel with the sun and lots of snow, but strong winds over tower gap and the summit proved tricky. A descent down Ledge Route completed the day, still with deep snow in No.5 gully. #bennevis #Munro #Towerridge
