Today i was on Ben Nevis via the mountain path with Lisa and her friends celebrating her whole number birthday.
The team set a steady pace in the good weather and we reached the summit in 4 hours.
From 1200m on the mountain there is a dusting of snow and some of it is a bit slippery in places where it has been walked on, but there are a lot of stones still poking through that can be used. #bennevis #Fortwilliam #Walking
Today i was on Ben Nevis going up the Mountain Path to the summit on our open group walk.
With a very cloudy start it turned out to be a bit of a dreich day. With very close cloud and mist that turned into drizzle and rain and back to mist again, we made the summit in a solid 4 hours. #bennevis #Mountainpath #Walking #Glennevis
Today i was back on Ben Nevis, 4th day out of 5, gaining the summit of Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg via Ledge Route and the CMD arete.
A few heavy showers early on in the day made the rock wet and lowered the clould level, so we didn’t get much of a view of the north face whilst along Ledge Route.
The ladies made good progress along and we popped out of the cloud whilst we started our way along the CMD arete, getting views of the Mammores and Steall Falls. #bennevis #Cm
Today i was on Ben Nevis via the Mountain Path.
Katie had her sights on the summit whilst on her holiday from Australia and she made very good progress to the top, getting there in 2.15hrs!
With thick cloud and a light wind it was hat and gloves weather at the top.
After looking round the ruined observatory we made equally swift progress down into the sun. With a total time of 4.15hrs. #bennevis #Munro #Walking
A very atmospheric day on the CMD arete, Ben Nevis today with Evelina and Andreas.
We made swift progress in the thick cloud to the summit of Carn Mor Dearg where the weather lifted to give glimpses of the north face of Ben Nevis.
The CMD arete was a good level of challenge for Evelina who soon found her feet skipping over the boulders. #cmdarete #Munro #Bennevis #Walking
A glorious day to walk into corie an t-Sneachda with Carrie and Rose on their birthday trip to Scotland.
They wanted good views, sun and a taste of the eastern Scottish hills, which they got in abundance today. #cairngorms #Walking
Today i was on Buachaille Etive Beag in Glen Coe with Sinead. Goal of the day was to get good views and good walking in Glen Coe, which we certainly couldn’t go wrong with in Glen Coe with the sun, May is definitely the best month of the summer.
The photos speak for themselves. #glencoe #Walking #Munro
Today i was up Ben Nevis via the mountain track. And the day was perfect, sunny, no wind and views at the top. The snow level is at 1000m leaving 350m of ascent in the snow to the summit. There is fresh snow on top of the base and the foot worn path is very slippery. Crampons were not needed today by walking in the softer snow. But its worth keeping an eye on the weather, if low cloud or rain is forecast this will be fresh snow at the summit and also make white out conditi
I was on the Mountain Track on Ben Nevis today which had very good weather and a lot of snow. The sun was shining from the start and it even felt a bit hot in the spring sun at the top. There is still firm ice from half way to the top but this did soften up as the day went on, with fresh snow on the higher part with an icy base. Depending upon how cold this week gets again, next easter weekend and holidays will most likely be full on winter conditions. 800m up The plateaux Th
Ben Nevis via the mountain path was a good challenge for the group after their winter skills day yesterday, putting what they learnt into practice. The path has a lot of snow on it from the bottom of the zig zags and navigation is very tricky at the top. There is a lot of ice from low down and the 6ft navigation cairns across the plateaux are almost buried. Its full on winter! The summit and blue sky! #bennevis #Mountainpath #Winter #Fortwilliam #Walking #Winterskills
Hard day at the office today on the mountain path up Ben Nevis. With rain lower down that quickly turned to snow by the half way point. This then froze completely by the summit and i don’t think ive had so much rime ice build up: buckles, zips and my whole waterproof jacket froze on the outside. Very tricky conditions under foot as well with lots of fresh snow over the last 48 hours on top of the windslab made for hard going from 650 meters to the summit. With white out con
Myself and Andrew walked up the 2 Buachaille Etive Mor munros: Stob Dearg and Stob na Broige. There was a lot of fresh snow falling all day and temperatures were a little warmer than yesterday with the cloud cover. Coire na Tulaich was mostly free from snow with a light dusting. We descending down to the Lairig Gartain taking a wide burth to avoid the dodgy slab. 2nd munro 1 st munro Corie na Tulaich #glencoe #Munros #Winter #Walking
