    Skye munro course, day 1

Today was day 1 of our Skye Munro course and we successfully managed to summit Sgurr MhicChoinnich, the Inaccessible Pinnacle and Sgurr na Banachdaich. Another day with 360 degree views and perfect conditions on the ridge. The team co-ordinated well, on the rock and with their clothing, for an enjoyable 1st day mountaineering over the classic Skye munros. We still have 2 spaces left on our 4 day Skye munro course on 31st Aug-3rd Sep, £440pp www.thehighlandmountaincompany.c

In Pinn and Sgurr MhicChoinnich, Skye

We had a glorious day on Skye 1st climbing the In Pinn and then scrambling our way across to the 2nd munro of Sgurr MhicChoinnich. It was a day of good views and photos, with views to the Outer Hebrides and onto the snowy peaks on the main land. #skye

    Skye Munros

Today was a better weather day so myself and Pitor headed for the northern peaks of Sgurr nan Gillean and Am Basteir. We had a dry ascent of Am Basteir via the bad step before going up the west ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean, we then descended the south ridge making for a good traverse of the peak. #skye #Munro #Cuillin

    Skye Munros

Over the last 2 days i have been out with Pitor on the Skye Cuillin ridge. We haven’t had the best of weather but we have managed to get in some classic scrambling. Yesterday in the wind and rain we walked up to An Dours and got the peaks of Sgurr a Mhadaidh and Sgurr a Ghreadaidh. We then kept on the ridge and did some great grade 3 scrambling to take us onto the munro of Sgurr a Banachdaich. Today with a colder but improving forecast we headed into Sgurr dubh mor and Sg

Sgurr nan Gillean and An Basteir, Skye

With a favourable forecast I headed on to Sgurr nan Gillean and Am Basteir with Shaun and Ben. They had been out the last 2 days on Skye being guided up the In Pinn, Sgurr MhicChoinnich, Sgurr na Banachdaich and Sgurr a Ghreadaidh, all in strong wind, rain and cloud. So they were glad today to get views from the tops and only a few showers. We made good progress into the corie and then onto the slippery Am Basteir over the bad step. The guys then tackled the crazy pinna

    Bla Bheinn, Skye

After the Skye Munros course Oli wanted to get the 12th Skye munro completed and look at some mountaineering skills With strong winds we opted to take the main path up via the rockiest line. On the way up we looked at taking mountaineering coils, selecting an appropriate anchor to safegard a 2nd and body belaying. With the strong wind blowing we made it to the summit and on the descent we looked at abseiling with a prusik and how to safegard a second when down climbing

    Skye Munros course, day 4

The northern 3 munros today to conclude our Skye munros course and complete the 11 munros on the black cuillin. Unfortunatly the weather gods were correct today with the strong winds and torrential rain this morning moving over to slightly lighter winds and heavy rain this afternoon. We headed for Sgurr nan Gillean 1st which tested everyone on the very windy crazy pinnacles section, with a more simple ascent of Am Bastier and Bruach na Frithe. Today tested everyone's

    Skye Munros course, day 3

Day 3 of our Skye munros course saw the weather turn for the worse with strong wind and heavy showers. We opted for the shorter day of ascending An Dorus to Sgurr a Ghreadaith and Sgurr a Mhadaith. With the top of An Dorus more of a waterfall pitch than a scramble we made quick work of both peaks with the wind blowing strong. Once we started descending the cloud lifted and we had a dry walk out before more heavy showers started for the rest of the afternoon. #skye #Cuilli

    Skye Munros course, Day 2

Day 2 of our Skye Munros course and we moved along the ridge summiting Sgurr MhicChoinnich, Inaccessible Pinnacle and Sgurr na Banachdaich. The day started out well with good views and blue sky. However the clouds descended covering the peaks with drizzle starting once we got to the In Pinn. With not too much of a wait the team made light work of the ascent, with a rocky walk to our last munro to complete the day. #skye #Cuillin #Inpinn

    Skye munros course day 1

Day 1 of our Skye munros course where we headed for the southern 3 munros of Sgurr nan Eag, Sgurr Dubh Mor and Sgurr Alasdair. The forecast had cloud and sun for most of the day but we got a lot more cloud and mostly falling drizzle which was unexpected. The guys did well getting round at a good pace with glimpses of the views coming and going. #skye #Munros #Cuillin

    Skye ridge traverse

A successful Cuillin ridge traverse on Skye over the last 2 days. We had good weather throughout and no hold ups on the trickier sections. A warm bivi proved a surprise even though our condensation froze on the bivi bags. 17 hours moving time over the 2 days was a very good effort by Dave and Jeff. #skye #Cuillinridge #Skyeridge

    Red Cuillin, Skye

Today Andrew was with Sarah and her family having a good sunny walk on the Skye Red Cuillin mountains. These peaks offer good walking on Skye if you don’t want to tackle the bigger more technical peaks on the black Cuillin, offering some of the best views. #skye #Redcuillin

    Skye munros

Last day for me on the Skye munros in the sun. Today was the middle 2 of Sgurr a Mhadaidh and Ghreadaidh. Another warm day walking in and more spectacular views of the Skye ridge. The team are doing well ticking off the peaks with just 3 left tomorrow. #skye #Munros #Cuillin

    Inaccessible Pinnacle, Skye

Today i was on the Inaccessible Pinnacle, Sgurr MhicChoinnich and Sgurr na Banachdaich on Skye. Another very hot day and a hot walk into Corrie Laggan. The streams are really starting to dry up now above the main rivers. The team did well in the heat and enjoyed the In Pinn with time on the summit for views all around before the abseil. #skye #Cuillin #Mountaineering #Munro

    Northern 3 munros on Skye

Today i was on the northern 3 munros on the Isle of Skye with the Welsh walking club on day 1 of their Skye munros course.  It was another hot day so shorts, water, suncream and a steady pace was the order of the day. We ticked off Bruach na Frithe 1st and then Am Basteir and Sgurr nan Gillean. Lots of teams at the end of their Skye ridge traverse made for a sociable mountain. #skye #Mountaineering #Munro

    Isle of Skye delivers again

Day 3 on Costa del Skye with Ian. Today we had a bit of a shorter day on Sgurr a Ghreadaidh and Sgurr a Mhadaidh. Walking up to An Dorus, the lowest point on the ridge, is one of my favourites along the river, and we weren’t let down today. More stunning views from the peaks as well. #munro #Skye #Isleofskye #Cuillin

The Inaccessible Pinnacle was the 1st goal today. After a hot walk up we ended up having it to ourselves. After lunch with a view, we headed across to Sgurr MhicChoinnich before descending. Another scorcher day on Skye. #skye #Munros #Cuillin #Innpinn
