Today was day 1 of our winter skills course and we had great weather and powder snow for it.
I decided to go up Stob Ban in Glen Nevis, opposite Ben Nevis in the good weather as the route and the views are amazing.
We spent a bit of time initially looking at the weather and Avalanche forecasts before heading onto the hill.
We were quickly into the snow and looked at the terrain traps, where the snow had built up and good route choice on the walk in. Once higher up on the col we looked at good footwork in ascending steeper snow before making our way up the final ridge in the sun to the summit.
On the way down we applied good safe movement skills on the steeper ground and looked at ice axe arrests lower down. A good day our and a lot covered.
