Skye Munros Course

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

Today was the 2nd day of our Skye Munros course and we opted for the middle section of Sgurr MhicChoinnich, Inaccessible Pinnacle and Sgurr Banachdaich.

With a deteriorating forecast through the day we made good progress in calm weather up to the main Cuillin ridge to start the ascent of Sgurr MhicChoinnich. The wind and rain picked up at this point and the ascent along the scrambling ridge was very slippery.

The guys did well with their careful movement and made a good ascent of the munro.

They were however not overly keen to repeat the process on the much harder and narrower ridge of the Inaccessible Pinnacle if conditions didn’t improve. We made the steep and slabby ascent up to the base where conditions hadn’t improved and the decision was made to leave it for a better weather day than windy drizzle.

We then made the windy traverse over to Sgurr Banachdaich which was the windiest part of the day. On the descent into the corrie much further down we finally got a view.

A full Skye day over the munros with classic Skye weather. If you would like to book onto one of our Skye courses next year then have a look here. https://www.thehighlandmountaincompany.co.uk/4-days-munro-course
