Inaccessible Pinnacle, Skye

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

With better weather today we made the most of it by ascending the Inaccessible Pinnacle, Sgurr na Banachdaich, Sgurr Ghreadaidh and Sgurr Mhadaidh.

With a warm breeze and clear tops we made our way direct up to the summit of Sgurr Dearg which would be the munro summit, were it not for a pinnacle of rock sticking up another 10 meters or so!

The girls made swift progress up the ‘moderate‘ ridge, hardly stopping along the way and we managed to get a view from the 1st belay before the thick cloud descended for the rest of the day.

We then made steady progress over the rocky ground to Sgurr na Banachdaich and then onto the ever narrowing south ridge of Sgurr Ghreadaidh, which was mostly dry and wind free. Still in the thick cloud we made the summit and then quickly descended to An Dorus and up Sgurr Mhadaidh for our 4 munro of the day.

A great day to be on the ridge ticking off the classic routes of the Skye munros. If you would like to do this next year then please have a look here. https://www.thehighlandmountaincompany.co.uk/skye
