Today i was up Ben Nevis via the mountain track which is in good early season condition with a decent snow cover from half way up.
The forecast wasn’t too promising on paper but it turned out dryer and not as windy as expected. We made good progress to the Red Burn crossing at half way when the snow cover was more consistent. Above, there was a noticeable drop in temperature until the summit.
There are still a lot of rocks poking through the snow and the path can be followed to the summit. Having poles helped a lot today on the snow covered rocks and the few deeper sections of wind slab.
